Christmas Season in MidCoast Maine

MidCoast Maine comes alive with holiday magic during the Christmas season! With its charming coastal setting, picturesque streets adorned with twinkling lights, and so many festive activities, the MidCoast offers a perfect destination for a memorable holiday getaway! Here are some of our favorite Holiday events and activities:

Camden’s Christmas-by-the-Sea:

Camden, with its idyllic harbor and historic downtown, transforms into a winter wonderland during the holiday season. Stroll along the streets lined with beautifully decorated shops or attend the annual Christmas-by-the-Sea festival, with its fabulous small-town parade, tree lighting ceremony, and caroling. Or take a horse-drawn carriage ride through town, immersing yourself in the festive atmosphere!

Rockland's Festival of Lights:

Just a short drive from Friendship, Rockland hosts its own Festival of Lights, adding to the holiday cheer in the region. At the beginning of the Festival, Santa arrives via U.S. Coast Guard vessel and will be at his workshop on Main Street throughout the season. Visit the famous Lobster Trap Christmas Tree and enjoy the wonderful light displays on the storefronts along Main Street and throughout the town, as well as live music performances and delicious food.

Boothbay Harbor's Gardens Aglow:

A visit to Boothbay Harbor during the holiday season would not be complete without experiencing Gardens Aglow at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens. The gardens are transformed into a mesmerizing display of over 650,000 lights, illuminating the winter landscape. Take a stroll along the illuminated paths, marvel at the giant lighted sculptures, and warm up with hot cocoa by the fire pits. An experience not to be missed for sure!

Wiscasset's Holiday Marketfest:

Wiscasset, known as the "prettiest village in Maine," hosts Holiday Marketfest each year, a celebration of local artisans and small businesses. Explore the charming streets lined with boutique shops, art galleries, and antique stores. Enjoy live music performances, horse-drawn carriage rides, and delicious food from local vendors. Surround yourself with cheer and find the perfect Christmas treasures!

Cultural Experiences:

In addition to these large seasonal events, many of the MidCoast towns host Holiday Craft Fairs and community events. These Makers Markets feature local artisans and are a great way to support the community. You can also keep an eye on the local community calendars for holiday events like caroling, holiday concerts, or Christmas services at local churches. Camden’s Opera House and Waldoboro’s the Waldo Theater both often have festive holiday performances that are well worth seeing. And if you’re staying at Three Sisters Farm during the holidays, feel free to reach out to us and we’ll let you know the local scoop at the time of your visit!

Stay cozy in Friendship:

While Friendship may not have the large-scale festivities of the larger towns, it does offer a quiet, lovely setting for the holiday season. Visit the Lobster Bouy Tree down at Friendship Harbor or hunt for your own perfect Christmas Tree at many of the local farms. And of course you can always enjoy the simple pleasures of the season by baking Christmas cookies or curling up with a good book or movie right here at the Three Sisters!

However you like to enjoy the holiday season, MidCoast Maine has something special to offer. And whether you're enjoying a festive event or simply savoring a quiet moment, Three Sisters Farm offers a peaceful and charming setting to spend time with your loved ones, enjoy the season, and make lasting memories.
